1. Information We Collect

When you use CrewFund we collect:

• Account information — your name, email address, and phone number when you register
• Expense data — bills you create, amounts, and participant information you enter
• Payment details — bank account details you add for receiving payments
• Usage data — how you interact with the app to help us improve it
• Device information — browser type and IP address for security purposes

We do not collect your bank login credentials or card numbers. Payments between users happen directly via bank transfer — we never touch your money.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide the bill splitting service
• Send payment notifications and reminders via WhatsApp and email
• Verify your identity and keep your account secure
• Improve CrewFund based on how people use it
• Contact you about important updates to the service

We do not sell your personal information to anyone. Ever.

3. WhatsApp Notifications

When you add a participant's phone number to an expense CrewFund may send that person a WhatsApp message notifying them of the bill. By adding someone's phone number you confirm you have their permission to contact them about the shared expense.

Recipients can ask to be removed from notifications by contacting us at hello@getcrewfund.com

4. Data Sharing

We share your data only with:

• Service providers who help us run CrewFund — including Resend (email delivery), Paystack (bank verification), and our hosting providers
• When required by Nigerian law or a valid legal process

We never share your data with advertisers or third party marketers.

5. Data Security

We protect your data using:

• Encrypted connections (HTTPS) for all data in transit
• Secure password hashing — we never store passwords in plain text
• HTTP-only cookies for session management
• Rate limiting to prevent unauthorized access attempts

No system is 100% secure. If you suspect unauthorized access to your account contact us immediately at hello@getcrewfund.com

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate information in your account
• Delete your account and associated data
• Opt out of marketing communications

To exercise any of these rights email us at hello@getcrewfund.com and we will respond within 7 business days.

7. Data Retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account we remove your personal information within 30 days. Expense records shared with other participants may be retained for up to 90 days to allow disputes to be resolved.

8. Cookies

CrewFund uses a single session cookie (cf_session) to keep you logged in. We do not use tracking cookies or advertising cookies.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as CrewFund grows. We will notify you of significant changes via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of CrewFund after changes means you accept the updated policy.
